Florida's East Coast |
| This coast is famous for two main reasons. First, it
is the location of the Kennedy Space centre and Cape Canaveral.
That's why this section of coastline is know as the Space Coast. Here is
where you can come and learn all about America's space program and if you're lucky you may
get to see the Space Shuttle taking off from. The other well know place here is Daytona Beach famous for it's speedway and where the world famous Daytona 500 stock-car meeting takes place. Daytona is also another one of those places that American students like to visit for their spring break. In the past they were invaded each year by some half-a-million college kids determined to have a good time. In recent years though Daytona has tried to refine it's image somewhat but if you seek peace and quiet you had best avoid visiting during the spring break period. Apart from the beaches which stretch south all the way to Miami there isn't really a great deal here to keep your attention for very long unless you simply want to escape the excesses of Orlando for a while in one of the coastal resorts. |
