As Florida is a very popular destination with the British, it's not surprising that most of the big names in travel operate services here. There are also many specialist companies which have grown up who deal solely with travel to Florida.

All this means that there are many good deals to be found when looking to purchase your holiday to Florida. Most of these operators will give you the options of buying flight only, fly drives or complete packages. Which is best for you depends on your circumstances and how flexible you are.

If this is your first trip to Florida you may prefer to take a complete package option as this takes away a lot of the uncertainties of going to a new place. If you are more independent or more familiar with Florida you might want to go for the Fly-drive or even flight only options and sort out your accommodation when you arrive, knowing what good deals you can find by doing it this way.

Here is a list of the main operators who provide travel and holidays from the U.K. to Florida.

Virgin Holidays: has a very extensive brochure for Florida and the Caribbean as you would expect. Flights are with Virgin Atlantic who offer one of the best levels of service around and lots of great in-flight entertainment. Virgin offer an extensive list of hotels, villas and apartments all over Florida. Stays in Disney Resort Hotels include an Unlimited Magic Pass for the length of your stay, one of only a few which do. Other multi-day attraction passes can be pre-purchased. Disney cruises, free car hire, weddings and a whole lot more are covered in the brochure.

Thomson: use Britannia to fly to Florida and get you in holiday mood with US style food and drink and all American entertainment. They offer a good selection of hotels and villas in the Orlando and Gulf Coast areas. Thomson do not include the Unlimited Magic Pass with their Disney Hotel prices, you purchase this as an extra. Multi-day passes for the main attractions can be pre-purchased. Free hire car, weddings and extra excursions are also offered.

Airtours: have their own fleet of aircraft and they also use Monarch. They offer an extensive list of accommodation across Florida. Their Disney Hotel prices like Virgin, include the Unlimited Magic Pass and they also offer Disney Cruiseline holidays. Other cruises are also offered. Free hire car and pre-purchase of attraction tickets are available. This is another very good and extensive brochure which is worth careful study.

British Airways Holidays. The Florida brochure has a good selection of options including free car rental and all the usual attraction tickets available for pre-purchase. Again the cost of the Unlimited Magic Pass is not included in the price of the Disney Hotels. A good range of accommodation is offered including hotels, apartments and private homes. Orlando, the Gulf Coast, Gold Coast and the Florida Keys are all covered plus Caribbean cruising options.

Cosmos: use Monarch, Britannia and Airtours for flights into Orlando, and BA and Virgin into Miami. They use a variety of accommodation in Orlando, Miami and the coastal areas. Unlimited Magic Pass is included if you stay in a Disney Hotel. Attraction tickets, free car rental, weddings and cruises are all offered.

First Choice: offers a good selection of holidays to Orlando and the coastal areas. Air 2000 and Monarch aircraft are used, flying into Sanford airport. All the usual tickets and attraction passes can be pre-purchased. Disney Hotel guests will need to pay separately for their Unlimited Magic Pass. Free car rental and a good selection of cruises are offered.

Jetsave: offer Flexible holidays with Britannia being the main charter airline used, but several other option are available. Hotels, apartments and homes are offered in Orlando, the Gulf and Gold Coasts and the Florida Keys. Disney hotel guests will find that the Unlimited Magic Pass is extra.

Kuoni: mainly use BA, Virgin and United Airlines for their flights. They have a range of properties available around Florida plus the usual attraction tickets and special occasion holidays, free car hire and cruises. The Unlimited magic pass is extra to Disney Hotel guests and in 2001 is compulsory for the length of your stay.

JMC fly with Monarch, Airtours International, Air 2000 and jmc Airlines into Sanford airport. They offer a limited number of properties all around Florida and again do not include the Unlimited Magic Pass in with their Disney Hotel prices.
