If you're a thrill seeker, this is the park for you. On opening this $1 billion park, Steven Spielberg said, 'These are not just theme park rides, these are entertainment achievements beyond anything I have ever seen anywhere else in the world.' And that's quite a statement coming from him. Islands of Adventure has more pure adrenaline rides in it's 110 acres than anywhere else. Along with great entertainment, shopping and dining it certainly is a park not to be missed. Although there is plenty for the younger kids to do here, the bulk of the attractions are definitely aimed at older children and adults. All the big thrill rides have height restrictions which will exclude the smaller children. For you thrill seekers there are at least five attractions which will scare you, two of which look truly terrifying. Even if you can't summon up the courage to ride, you will still enjoy watching those that do. The park is located next to Universal Studios and you use the same car park. Make sure you remember exactly where you have parked the car. Like Disney, Universal are also working on ways to speed up access to the more popular attractions within it's parks and now use a system called Universal Express. If you have bought a multi-day ticket you will receive a card when you enter the park. This card will give you Express access to all the more popular rides up till 11am. This alone is a good reason to buy a multi-day ticket such as the Orlando Flex ticket which will give you 14 days access to the top parks. When I visited the park was very quiet so it was hard to judge how effectively the system works. Universal's Islands of Adventure is divided into six 'Lands' or 'Islands' spread out around a central lagoon. Let's have a look at each of these in more detail :- |
