Disney's River CountryDisney only open River Country occasionally. This park is much smaller than Disney's other two water parks and is situated on the side of Bay Lake. The theme here is a country, backwoods, old fashioned swimming hole that the likes of Hucklebury Finn would have enjoyed. There isn't as much to do here, but even so in summer it can still get very busy. The other drawback here is, because the park uses Bay Lake the water can be very cold especially in the winter months. If I had to make a choice between coming here to River Country or to either Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach it would definitely be one of the latter. And if you plan to do all three water parks during your stay, do River Country first followed by the other two because that way things will only get better. Here's what you can find at River Country :- Whoop 'n' Holler Hollow. These are two similar
twisting and turning corkscrew body slides which then drop you into Bay Cove. Bay Cove is where the fun is centred. This is a half acre section of Bay Lake which contains tyre swings, rope climbs, boom swings etc. There's also a nice white sand beach here for sunbathing. Slippery Slide Falls. These are two more body slides which drop you from some height into the Upstream Plunge Pool. The plunge pool is a 330 000 gallon heated pool which will help you warm up a little after being in Bay Cove. White Water Rapids is an inner tube ride down the
hillside at a fairly sedate pace ending in Bay Cove. Kiddie Cove is specially for the smaller kids with their own smaller slides and pool. Indian Springs. A spray pond with water jets, again for the little ones. Cypress Point Nature Trail. When you've had enough of the water you can take a relaxing stroll through a pretty and well shaded cypress grove. Again fast food, snacks and drinks are available. Admission prices are usually reduced after 4pm. |
