Disney's Typhoon Lagoon |
| This water park is an exotic tropical paradise set in
56 acres. The rides and attractions are laid out around a 2.5 acre palm fringed sandy
lagoon. The park is overlooked by 90ft Mount Mayday which has a shrimp boat called Miss Tilly perched on top. The legend goes that the boat landed here during a massive typhoon which is where the park gets it's name. There are some brilliant water rides here and something for
everyone. This park does get very busy in summer and often reaches it's capacity of
7 200 people. Typhoon Lagoon does tend to close for most of December for refurbishment but should open again towards the end of that month. Check with the official web site for details. Here are the main attractions in Typhoon Lagoon :- Ketchakiddie Creek. Slides, geysers, fountains and sand all especially for children aged 2 to 5 years. Castaway Creek. This is a 3ft deep lazy river that
circles the lagoon. You grab a tube and off you gently float around the park Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool. At regular intervals the lagoon generates 4ft high surf for your enjoyment. Or you can just relax on the lovely white sandy beach. Humunga Kowabunga. Centred on Mount Mayday this
comprises 3 enclosed speed slides which drop you 214ft through rocky caverns at 30 mph.
Make sure your swimsuit is secure. Shark Reef gives you the opportunity to snorkel
through a coral reef teeming with colourful tropical fish and also a number of real
sharks. The gear is all provided and the area well supervised. Storm Slides are body slides which twist and turn through caves, tunnels and waterfalls. Gang Plank Falls. The family can ride together on this one with up to four people in this 300ft white water rafting adventure. Keelhaul Falls is another white water ride in a tube. May Day Falls is a tube ride down 460ft of twists and turns down the rocky falls. There are several eating places serving the usual snacks and drinks and also an area for picnics ( but NO glass containers or alcohol allowed ). If you've forgotten anything ( suncream, swimsuit etc.) then Singapore Sal's should be able to help you out, along with the usual gift ideas. Don't forget your waterproof suncream. You will soon burn without it. |
