The Magic Kingdom

Introduction: This was the original park that started it all off. Completed in 1971 it is the most popular of all the parks. Magic Kingdom is split into 7 'Lands' across some 100 acres with the centre piece being the famous Cinderella Castle.

Opening Times

9am - 6-9pm off peak

9am - 10pm spring school holidays

9am - 11pm high season
(Easter, summer holidays,Thanksgiving & Christmas)

At the main car park you first encounter the ticket booths. Then you need to board either the monorail or a ferryboat which will take you to the entrance of the magic kingdom.

During peak periods the entry and transportation system get very busy with long queues forming ( especially during peak season) so arrive early (before 8am) or you may have a long wait.

The published opening time of the park is 9am but the gates to the Magic Kingdom are quite likely to be open anything up to 45 minutes before then, allowing you into the first area of the park Main Street USA. This is where you have to wait for the final opening hour and the famous 'rope drop' which signals the mad rush into the park proper. Make your decision on which of the main rides you want to visit first so as to beat the crowd there.

Remember to make a note of exactly where you are parked. All the sections are named after Disney characters e.g. Goofy row 19. The car parks are huge and you may have trouble finding your car otherwise when you return at the end of the day.
