Florida Holiday Guide - Your Dream Vacation Starts Here.

Walt Disney World is huge, the site covers some 47 square miles or nearly 31 000 acres. It's been said that the UK's Alton Towers and Thorpe Park would comfortably fit into just one of Disney's car parks. That gives you some idea of the scale of the place and shows how important good planning is.

If you don't plan your visit here carefully you could miss an awful lot. It also gets very busy here, with the Magic Kingdom having a single day record attendance in the region of 92 000 people. So if you don't want to spend the entire day standing in queues, planning is essential.

There are now a number of different tickets you can buy for Disney and although you can get single day entrance tickets to individual parks, this would work out more expensive than getting one of the multi-day passes. For specific information and current prices have a look at our Ticket information page.

To help you get on some of the more popular attractions within the four main parks Disney now use a system called Fastpass. This allows you to collect a ticket at the entrance to the attraction which has a time slot printed on it. You return during this time and can enter through the FastPass line which should take you straight to the front with very little queuing. For a more detailed explanation of FastPass click here. We have made a note on each attraction through the guide that uses the FastPass system.

Another way of gaining fast access to some of the major rides are E-Ride Nights. We don't hear much about this in the UK but basically an E-Ride Night is a special event held at the Magic Kingdom on selected nights each month. The park remains open for another 3 hours after the stated closing time allowing E-Ticket holders the chance to go on selected rides without much queuing. Ticket sales are very limited (possibly around 5000) so it's much easier to access the rides. (A slow day at MK would normally be around 25,000 visitors.)

Now the bad news. To be able to buy one of these tickets you must be a Disney Resort (Hotel) guest with a multi-day pass. Tickets cost $10 + tax for adults and $8 + tax for children. To obtain one of these tickets you will need to ask at your hotel front desk or Guest Services area.
